Aleta Alston Toure
Aleta is a mother, strategist and coop member bearing witness as a vessel for social change helping mothers, healers and community. She created the “I am Troy Davis” movement, has six documentary films including the Emmy award winning, Eyes On The Prize Documentary Film and was a MIT Ford Fellow. In her social justice work, Aleta has also pioneered the Free Marissa Now Movement, raising over $100,000 and organizing a campaign that freed Marissa Alexander from imprisonment. Taught through Universidad Sin Fronteras, languages, dance and song – she now works in the movement for women-led cooperative development.
