Based in Washington, D.C., Steve Dubb is Director of Special Projects and Senior Advisor to the President at The Democracy Collaborative. Steve has been with the Collaborative since 2004. In 2005, Steve was lead author of Building Wealth: The New Asset-Based Approach to Solving Social and Economic Problems, published by The Aspen Institute. Steve is also a co-author (with Rita Axelroth Hodges) of The Road Half Traveled: University Engagement at a Crossroads (published by MSU Press in 2012). In 2013, Steve led the research team that produced The Anchor Dashboard and is currently working with six universities to pilot community impact measures based on that report. Steve has also been a coordinator for the New Economy Action Project, a coalition of nine organizations that are working to advance economic democracy and community wealth by promoting the use of "new economy" policy and tools (e.g., laws and investments that foster community ownership and public accountability) in ways that reinforce and strengthen existing community organizing efforts.

Steve has also helped to design community wealth building strategies in more than a dozen U.S. cities (most recently, Richmond, Virginia) and is part of the Collaborative’s Learning/Action Lab team that is partnering with Native American organizations to develop employee-owned businesses and social enterprises in Indian Country.
